The COVID-19 pandemic is one of the greatest challenges New York has faced. But while this crisis is tough, New York is tougher. To rise together, we must work together. We must stand by those New Yorkers who need our help.
No one works together like #teamGraham. We all have family, friends, colleagues, and peers in the city. Please join us in supporting our neighbors in New York.
Robin Hood's mission is to inspire 1,000,000 New Yorkers to give at least $10 each to help their neighbors in need. We hope that Graham will join other big-hearted New Yorkers in rallying funds for those hit hardest by COVID-19: the 1.8 million New Yorkers already living in poverty, and the many others who, overnight, found themselves on the brink of it.
Robin Hood will direct 100% of the funds you donate to the poorest New Yorkers’ most urgent needs: food, shelter, cash assistance, health and mental health, legal services, education and more. And Ken will personally contribute $3 for every $1 donated or raised by Graham employees.
Please consider donating, and sharing this Go Fund Me page on social media to encourage others to do so as well. Together, we can help New Yorkers in desperate need. Please stand by New York!
Why is our support so critically important?*
-2 million New Yorkers are going to go hungry. That’s double the number of starving people in our city before COVID-19.
-Though we started the year with 1.8 million people living below the poverty line, an additional 1.2 million New Yorkers are out of a job since February; the overwhelming majority of them in low income jobs that will force them into poverty also.
-750,000 kids cannot access school lunches which was often their most nutritious meal each day and nearly 4 in 10 parents are skipping meals so their kids can eat.
-1 in 4 Americans that have died of COVID-19 lived in New York City.
-While education has gone virtual, nearly 400,000 school kids lack access to computers or the internet to complete their school work…resulting in a possible lost generation.
-Five out of every six expected New York City job losses will occur in businesses largely providing face-to-face services. Low-wage workers predominate in face-to-face service jobs and consequently have borne the brunt of job displacement.
-While 62% of white collar jobs can work from home, only 9% of blue collar jobs can continue to work.
Why is Robin Hood so well-equipped to help?
-Robin Hood has been leading the fight against poverty in New York City for over 30 years. They were there for the victims of 9/11, as the first ones to deploy checks. After Superstorm Sandy, they funded emergency services within three days of the storm.
-100% of all donations to Robin Hood go directly to those in need. (The Robin Hood board pays all of the organization’s overhead).
-With hundreds of community partners, Robin Hood is uniquely positioned to address the horrors of COVID-19. Hand in hand with the hardest working organizations in your neighborhood, we are ready for battle.
