Thanks for supporting Team Gage!
Gage was diagnosed with Autism in September 2012 at age 2. He has been attending school daily (including summer time) at Margaret Murphy Centers for Children (MMCC) since January 2013 and has made great progress. He is now 9 years old and in 4th grade. He works so hard each day and continues to amaze us all the time! This is our 7th year fundraising for MMCC.
Over the last 7 years, Gage has accomplished so much and we are so proud of our little guy. This would not have happened without the tireless efforts of his team at MMCC.
Some of our favorite accomplishments this past year are: identifying currency, adding it, and buying items at the store, becoming much more verbal, learning some daily living skills such as getting dressed, tying shoes, and food prep. Gage has been using his communication device consistently for a few years now. His little personality has really come through this year and he shows that by telling jokes (with his device). He is also learning manners. He is still able to type out sentences and spell words that are not available in his device (and yes, if it is a consistent word that he's typing we will add it to the device :)). He will also use it to comment on what he sees on TV or if he wants to share something that he has observed. He will answer WH (who, what, when, where, and why) questions about books that are read to him, what he reads, or what he sees on TV. He learned all the days of the week and months and loves to tell what the date is. Gage's motor skills are improving greatly and he enjoys riding his bike and scooter. He still enjoys going out in the community and loves to go to hockey games, baseball games, bowling, the arcade, car races at Oxford, surfing, and of course...jumping on trampolines.
Margaret Murphy Centers for Children is a school for developmentally delayed and autistic children ages 18 months to 20 years old. All the proceeds go directly to the school. Please help support Gage and his schoolmates by making a tax deductible donation. Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support our fundraising efforts. Please forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too, and again, thanks for supporting Team Gage!
