So this is nuts. I’ve developed an autoimmune disease that is attacking my joints, just passed a milestone birthday, don’t love running, and YET I plan to run the Boston Marathon.
I am doing it for a great cause, Bottom Line. It’s a wonderful organization – they help first-generation students from low-income backgrounds get into college, through college, and into jobs…which, of course, is the Bottom Line. I could bombard you with stats, but only one of them matters: 78% of Bottom Line’s students graduate within 6 years – versus roughly 20% for their peers who do not receive support. This year, Bottom Line will provide personalized support to nearly 8,000 high school and college students in Boston, Chicago, and New York. You can read more about the organization here: https://www.bottomline.org/
I need your help mentally, not just financially. Modern medicine, training, and old-fashioned stubbornness will help me run the race, but I need you to tell me that I am NOT nuts, that I can do this, and that you’ve got my back. I need to hear your voice in my head when I don’t want to go on that 15 mile training run at 6am. I need you to remind me that this is not about me, but is about the Bottom Line students, and that every step I take is for a good cause. Let me know that this makes perfect sense.
You can do that by helping the cause financially. My goal is to raise $30,000. Will you help me get there?
