My father, Steve Arky, was adored and admired by so many people. His death in 1985 was devastating to his family, friends and our community.
I have channeled the pain from the loss of my dad into helping to support kids going through a similar experience. I am the Board Chair and 11-time volunteer counselor for Experience Camps, which provides no fee bereavement programs for young people who have experienced the loss of a parent or sibling. We began this program in 2009, at a single location serving 27 campers. Next summer we will host over 1,200 campers at our 12 locations across the country.
Melanie and I are raising money for Experience Camps in honor of my father. Our goal is $30,000 -- and we are going to match every donation up to $15,000.
We hope you will consider making a donation to support this amazing cause, in honor of my amazing father!

Why now is the time to support Experience Camps:
Never has the need been greater for our services. Our aim is to double the number of kids we can reach by 2024 and expand our resources to help millions more. And as we continue to scale in the future, Experience Camps is playing a vital role TODAY in the aftermath of COVID-19 as we attend to both new and ongoing grief during this very stressful time. Grieving children are especially vulnerable right now. Already dealing with the death of a close family member, these children need the support and love of this special community to help manage the interruption of their daily lives and the fear or fact of additional loss. And for those dealing with new losses related to COVID-19, the experience of grief presents different challenges. Experience Camps needs to be there for these children.
