“Allowing your best friend to talk you into a situation where you find yourself entirely outmatched makes for great stories and even better life lessons” Patrick Gray (I’ll Push You).
This quote describes many of these amazing things to a tee. Sometimes Melissa talks Vicky into challenging things like running the Marine Corps Marathon with Ainsley’s Angels of America now for 5 years. This time it is Vicky’s turn to suggest something crazy.
We are Melissa Peplow and Vicky Wallace also known as Team 2 for 1. We are 2 friends who have known each other for almost 13 years. During this time we have done some crazy things together.
See, Vicky is going to be turning the big 60 in the summer of 2020 and she wants to do something BIG to celebrate. One of the things Vicky truly loved in life was hiking but being confined to a wheelchair, she has found it difficult to almost impossible to get out on trails like she used to. After reading the book and watching the documentary I’ll Push You describing the adventures of two lifelong friends as they hiked the entire length of the El Camino de Santiago in Spain with Patrick pushing Justin in a wheelchair, she became totally psyched that something like this WAS POSSIBLE.
Their friendship and “can do” attitude totally reminded her of Team 2 for 1. Months later, due to the overwhelming response to the book, Patrick and Justin announced that they would be offering an accessible Camino trip hiking the last 72 miles of the pilgrimage. Vicky convinced Melissa that they HAD to apply. They couldn’t have been more shocked and honored that out of the many applicants they were chosen to be a part of the 3rd accessible trip.
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to get her back out on the trails doing something that she thought was impossible.
Ainsley's Angels of America is super excited to be spreading awareness through Team 2 for 1's amazing activism and "Together, We Shall" lifestyle! We will use funds donated through this campaign to ensure Vicky and Melissa's trip to the El Camino and Washington DC for a 6th time not only happens, but also facilitates the purchase of more equipment for mission excution across America!
