Nick and I adopted Rocky, a shy, sweet, 12 year old senior cat, from Lucy Mac in January 2017 (now we call him Zizou). He spent the first 11 years of his life with a cat named Maizie, and an elderly woman, who I can only guess from how well behaved and sweet natured and snuggly Zizou is, loved him dearly. She had to move into assisted living, and Zizou and Maizie were brought to Lucy Mac to be cared for while they waited for their new families.
Lucy Mac took great care of Zizou during his year at the shelter. He got regular check ups, they took care of some tooth and other minor health issues when they came up, and just as they do with all the dogs and cats at the shelter, they really got to know his personality, so they could place him with the right family.
All the cats are spayed or neutered, micro chipped, given regular health care, have their special needs looked after (whether it’s a special diet or a need for medication), and placed appropriately into one of many types of indoor/outdoor, quiet, communal, or special needs cat rooms. Most of all - the staff and volunteers spend lots of time giving them love and attention.
We do our best to give Zizou a great home, and he thanks us by catching mice, patrolling the house, and giving us head bumps to let us know how happy he is.
Please give with your heart to this amazing shelter. They do such good work for the animals in their care.
