Team V is the official endurance fundraising program for the V Foundation for Cancer Research. We are a committed team of athletes fundraising with strength and determination for the fight against cancer. Our team’s runners are fueled by the spirit of Jim Valvano and his inspiring words, “Don’t Give Up . . . Don’t Ever Give Up!”®
“There are some who bring a light so great to this world that even after they are gone, their light remains.”
Running the Boston Marathon has been a dream of mine for many years now, and in the last year it has come to symbolize so much more. In May of 2016 my mom was diagnosed with brain cancer: Stage IV Glioblastoma. Her battle was a long one with countless ups and downs. She was a fighter until the end, and the cancer never took that from her. From when she was diagnosed, until she lost her battle in March of last year, her strength, perserverence, and attitude became a symbol to all around her. Throughout the time that cancer was a part of my family's life, running was my source of relief, of motiviation, and of peacefulness. Since my mom's passing, running has become that much more therapeutic and meaningful. I am so excited to be a part of The V Foundation's Marathon Team this year, and I cannot think of a better way to honor the life my mom lived. I hope to be a small part of finding cancer's cure so that one day no other family will have to walk in the shoes that mine has. Thank you so much for your time!
