Dear Family and Friends, After a year away from the LA Marathon, I am returning to run on the TRAIN4AUTISM HALF MARATHON TEAM on Sunday March 18, 2018. Yes! that's next week! I initially didn't think that I was going to be in Los Angeles for the month of March and was not going to be able to run. Due to unexpected changes in scheduling I am in LA and I'm ready to put my feet to the pavement once again for this remarkable cause. You are receiving this email you are among the gracious group of donors from the campaign that I ran in 2016 for this same cause. And, again, because I have decided to turn my sweat and blisters into something really meaningful I'm asking if I can count on you again, this year to help me raise money for autism research. One in four people in the United States knows someone with autism. It is estimated that at least 1.7 million individuals in the U.S. are grappling with this complex and baffling disorder that mostly affect children. The signs of autism become apparent by the time a child is three years old. This lifelong developmental disorder affects the way a person interacts with their environment. I was surprised to learn that individuals with autism may never be able to speak, marry, hold a job or live on their own. Autism is a lifelong challenge for the individual diagnosed, and a life changing challenge for their family. While there is no known cause and a cure is not yet on the horizon, research provides hope and the promise of a better quality of life for those affected by autism. I am dedicating this run to those children and families who are challenged with this disorder and for continued autism research. I am asking for your support. All proceeds will go to Train4Autism. Train 4 Autism is a nonprofit, 501(c) (3) organization founded by parents and families of children touched by Autism. Additionally, Train 4 Autism is a foundation dedicated to bringing together a community of athletes, physically active, and socially conscious people who are committed to raising awareness and funds for research and treatment for those living with Autism and their families. Fund raising and volunteer opportunities for individual athletes, teams and entire families include marathons, half marathons, 10Ks, 5Ks, walks, triathlons, swimming, and cycling events. Today, there are many treatment centers and research programs all doing vital work, and all carrying different yet important messages and missions. Train 4 Autism provides the infrastructure, technology, and support for participants to raise funds and contribute to the programs about which they are most passionate. My personal fund raising goal is $1,000 or more. Any amount can help; no donation is too small. Your generous donation will help create solutions to the daily challenges those living with autism face each day. Please consider sponsoring me on my journey w/ TEAM TRAIN4AUTISM.
