“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Exodus 14:14
Last fall, my beautiful mother, Tammy Mertz, was diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer. As a family, we experienced the shock and fear that one finds themselves in when receiving this news. 1 year later we find ourselves in a much better place, looking back on a year of progress, positive outcomes and faith for a strong future. After many trips to Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Chicago to complete 8 rounds of chemo, surgery and most recently 7 weeks of radiation at Trinity Cancer Center, we see light at the end of a very dark tunnel. Though a long road ahead, we truly understand the need for continued research, experienced doctors and top of the line medical facilities close to home for patients taking on this battle. We want to commit ourselves and our time to the Edith Sanford Run/Walk for Breast Cancer this year in hopes of bringing additional awareness to this cause and raise critical funding to help facilities like these continue their great work.
My mother’s courage and faith inspires me each & every day ; I hope her story can inspire other as it has inspired me.
