I began participating in the Relay for Life just less than a month after losing my sister to esophageal cancer. There was not much planning because it was such short notice, and I have been participating since 2012. Over the years, more and more people have been affected by cancer, whether they are parents, siblings, spouses, or friends. There are many different forms of cancer and I have taken a personal quest to participate for all the people who have touched my life. There are the survivors life Taniqua Bean.. a daughter, mother and a fighter and a survivor. There are the ones I walk in memory of like my sister Susan, Joshua Yezak, infant son to Tyler and Tina Yezak, and a dear friend and co worker Ms. Mary Locke. I walk in memory of family of friends also. There are also the fighters, whether it is an ongoing battle, or a new battle. This year I walk for loved ones of others and loved ones of my own....Kem and Susan Haggard, Patricia Alvarado and Reggie Gilder, brother of Teresa Tunsel. Cancer touches many lives in more ways than one. There is hopefully going to come a time when no one has to suffer physically, mentally, or financially from cancer. So I ask if you can donate....it can go a long way whether in the community like providing transportation and lodging for family of people fighting this disease, which hopefully one day can be beaten. Thank you and God bless all.
