For the past 13 years my family has been involved with Camp Koinonia. Camp K is a camp run by UT students for individuals age 7-21 with multiple disabilities. This camp is a magical place that simply cannot be described by words. It gives individuals with disabilities the opportunities to do things like ride horses, canoe, shoot bow and arrows, etc. Everyone is included in all activities, no matter their limitations. This is an experience that has a lasting impact on both the campers and UT students, and where lifelong friendships are created.
Sadly, when our campers age out of camp at age 21, they also age out of public school. Their interactions and activities with their peers become very limited. The Koinonia Foundation was developed to continue to support the established UT camps, as well as to develop much needed programs for our campers who are over the age of 21. That is why The Koinonia Foundation has created the We Adapt programs. These programs serve individuals with disabilities 18+. In order to continue to expand our We Adapt programs, as well as support our established camps, we need your help! Any donation, no matter the size , is greatly appreciated. Please help us make these special programs possible.
