For anyone who knows me, you know that I have a passion for working with people with disabilites...and for those of you who know me well know that this passion began in Kindergarten when a boy with down syndrome walked into my class and changed my life forever. Flash forward to 2008 when I moved to Tennessee and began my college education at UT. I remember searching for a program that had meaning and purpose and one where I would be able to help people with disabilities and their families. Four years later, I went to Camp Koinonia for the first time and realized I had finally found what I was looking for (first photo posted was at my first Camp K).
From that moment on, the Koinonia Foundation has become a big part of my life. I graduated with my masters and became a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, I attended Camp Oginali/Koinonia Retreat/Camp Koinonia, I helped start the KF We Adapt program, and I have volunteered at the KF Gala since 2013 (second photo posted was at my first KF Gala). This year, I was asked to become a board member for the Koinonia Foundation and words can't even begin to express how honored I am to be apart of something that does so much for the Knoxville community. Please take the time to watch the video posted to see all the different programs the Koinonia Foundation offers. It truly is amazing and something we wouldn't be able to do without your help.
I would like to now ask you to please consider donating to the Koinonia Foundation to help us continue making a difference in many people's lives. Every dollar donated has the potential to be matched by a handful of very generous corporate donors. You can donate from September 21st - September 25th.
