Dear Friends,
Our daughter Reese has a genetic disorder known as Phelan-McDermid syndrome. It affects her development in many ways, most noticeably in her speech and muscle tone. The same year Reese was diagnosed, at age two, she started taking therapeutic riding lessons at Lovelane. We were not sure we believed that riding a horse could really help Reese-- she was so tiny that the horses were giant, but we were willing to try anything!
Now, six years later, with confidence and strength, she tells the horse to “go fast please” and sits tall when riding. The bond between Reese and her therapists has built a trusting and heartwarming relationship that pushes Reese to succeed with each challenge.
We now know what Lovelane can do for kids with special needs, and we want to help them continue to make a difference in the lives of each child they serve. Our family looks forward to engaging friends, neighbors and relatives to join us in fundraising for Lovelane at the annual Susan McDaniel Run for Lovelane. A family-friendly, fun, community event, The Run for Lovelane, has something for all ages.
Most importantly, monies raised will directly support Lovelane’s Susan McDaniel Tuition Assistance Program. Children, like Reese, are accepted off Lovelane’s wait list and once in the program may apply for tuition assistance. As the recipients of tuition assistance at Lovelane we ask you consider joining us for the Run this year or making a donation to support Lovelane’s Tuition Assistance Program. Your gift will directly support families in need, whose children will benefit from therapeutic riding in the extraordinary and powerful ways we have witnessed with our own daughter.
