You’ve likely seen advertisements for various breast cancer foundations. You’ve likely seen the pink ribbons on cars, clothing, and other merchandise, or famous actresses get diagnosed and become activists themselves, or even sports arenas filled with pink attire worn by both fans and players to raise awareness about breast cancer. Breast cancer awareness is at an all-time high in the United States yet this type of cancer is still the number one leading diagnosed cancer in women and the number two leading cause of cancer related deaths in women. Whether you’ve been diagnosed or you know someone who has, most of us have all been impacted by this disease either directly or indirectly. In fact, roughly one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer within their lifetime.
For these reasons, I, along with three great friends, have joined together to raise awareness and to fundraise for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Meet Team Pretty in Pink: Nathan Dove, Greg Atkinson, Donna Kislow, and Becky Forestier. We welcome you to our fundraising page, where all proceeds go directly to support the work of this great organization. In conjunction with our fundraising efforts, and to honor those who have bravely fought, or are currently fighting breast cancer, the four of us will be participating in a road race event in February 2020 in Oak Island, North Carolina. All four of us, and most likely many of you, have been impacted by this disease in some way. In fact, Becky Forestier was diagnosed with breast cancer less than a year ago and after successful treatment is now in remission. It was a recent Facebook post by Becky that inspired us to get involved and to try to make a difference.
Hopefully you all will feel just as inspired as we do and get involved as well. No donation is too small or too large – any amount helps the NBCFwith projects related to breast cancer research, financial support for people fighting breast cancer, and breast cancer awareness programs that include access to mammograms for those who otherwise can’t access or afford these important diagnostic tests. Thank you for any support you’re able to provide!
