I'm excited to join the Chinese Progressive Association (CPA) for its 16th annual Chinatown Bike-a-thon! The fundraiser helps CPA's youth leadership program, the Chinese Youth Initiative (CYI), and supports future generations of grassroots organizers and activists. Because participants will be joining from home this year, I'll be participating from San Francisco! In place of biking (I don't have a bike, unfortunately), my goal will be to walk/hike the 16 miles during the week of August 2-9.
CYI provides meaningful political education and hands-on organizing experiences to high school-aged youth in the Greater Boston area. CYI interns are learning history and building a political community to support workers, tenants, and elderly residents. To address the pandemic, the program is forming working groups in green justice, housing stabilization, public outreach, and more. Other recent work by CYI youth includes fighting anti-Asian racism with a virtual Intergenerational Town Hall and an Instagram campaign (@covid19feelings).
Please join my team and ride/walk with me, or donate to help support this important cause! <3
