Support Team OYH and help ensure that Minnesotans who are hungry, homeless or unsafe, have supportive shelter, nourishing food, and a safe place to rebuild their lives.
There are an estimated 15,000 people homeless on any given night in Minnesota, with nearly 40,000 Minnesotans experiencing homelessness each year. Another 150 or more Minnesotans become newly homeless each week. Of all age groups, children and youth age 24 and under are the most likely to be homeless in Minnesota.
At Open Your Heart, we help to create a cleaner, safer, healthier world in which to live, work and play by providing support to more than 200 different homeless shelters and food shelves throughout Minnesota annually. We support programs in communities where many traditional funders do not reach – volunteer run domestic violence shelters, homeless programs in sparsely served remote corners of the state, inner city programs dedicated to serving the poorest among us with compassion and dignity, and hunger programs serving clientele with special needs. We design our support in consideration that many agencies are small, volunteer run without professional fundraising staff and prioritize visiting their programs, understanding their organizational challenges and getting to know the communities in which they serve.
Please support Team OYH in their goal to raise $6,000 and help ensure that Minnesota homeless shelters, food shelves and domestic violence shelters have the tools, infrastructure and resources necessary to serve those in need.
