Overdose Lifeline, Inc. (ODL) is a statewide Indiana nonprofit dedicated to helping individuals, families, and communities affected by the disease of addiction / substance use disorder through advocacy, education, harm reduction, prevention, resources, and support. The organization has been on the front-lines of the opioid epidemic since 2014.
The Need is Big
COVID-19 has affected each and every one of us. While the world is in the midst of a pandemic, the U.S. opioid overdose epidemic has not stopped. Being in isolation away from family and friends, with regular routines interrupted, the amount of overdoses has grown significantly. Since last April, we have seen more than a 90% increase in overdoses.
The Time is Now
Overdose Lifeline has developed harm reduction programs to equip first responders, individuals, and families with the opioid overdose reversal drug naloxone (Narcan®). Overdose Lifeline also offers prevention and education programs such as the one-of-a-kind youth prevention program, This is Not About Drugs, designed to educate and prevent the first use. But there is much more work to be done. Overdose Lifeline has a very specific ‘to-do’ list that addresses initiatives critical to reducing and managing this epidemic by serving individuals and communities in need.
