I am running the Chicago Marathon this October 13th and am excited to run for a cause that is important to me. Many of you know that I work for a nonprofit called NPH USA (Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos) which is Spanish for Our Little Brothers and Sisters. The money we raise supports our homes in Latin America and the Caribbean. I have had the privilege of visiting our homes in Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador, Dominican Republic and Guatemala.
It wasn't until I visited these homes, met some amazing kids and volunteers, that I really understood the definition of gratitude. I see it in these kids who are so thankful to know they will have three meals a day, receive an education and have a place to call home. They show their appreciation by being kind to each other and embracing the opportunities they now have for a brighter future.
Every day, I try to have more gratitude in my life. I understand how blessed I am to have a great family, friends, my health and many opportunities.
In gratitude of my health I am training to run the Chicago Marathon this fall. This will be my 9th marathon (no, they don't get easier). I am also running for all the kids in our NPH homes. Every dollar that I raise will help feed, clothe, and educate these kids. Additionally, it will help provide a safe home and healthcare for them. If you would like to support these kids please consider making a donation to my fundraising page or email me for my mailing address; firstname.lastname@example.org.
DEAL ALERT!!!! If you donate $50 or more then I will add YOUR song of choice to my marathon playlist. That's 3-4 minutes of me thinking good thoughts of you! If you cannot donate, but would like to support me; I will gladly take your positive thoughts, good vibes and prayers to get me to the finish line!
Paz y Bien
