JASON SORGEN, TEAM MYA
This August 3rd-4th I will be attempting to run one mile every hour for 24 consecutive hours in the Anytime Fitness 24 in 24 Challenge.
I have been a member of the Anytime Fitness gym for about 4 years now, and the first 24 in 24 event was just amazing. I enjoy getting involved in various charity runs and events, and this was no different, however due to my work schedule I was never able to. I ran the first aid booth for a few hours, and talked to numerous participants that year and I knew it was something I wanted to continue to pursue. Why would someone want to run for 1 mile every hour for 24 hours, some might ask. I want to run because I know that I am helping raise money for kids with terrible, often life threatening illnesses. Specifically speaking cancer has affected all of us in some way, shape or form by now, and the worst is when kids, babies, or infants get the disease, and that is only 1 of the many horrible diseases out there. I have known first hand a few kids that have gotten diagnosed with cancer, or some other illness and just the sheer willpower they have to fight day in and day out is nothing short of amazing. The positivity they all have, even when they are exhausted and sick, is why. If these kids can go through horrible illnesses then I can surely run 24 hours for them. Running in the 24 race will raise money for the special wish foundation, so they may have their dream come true, and what they go through, they deserve it more than anything, after all they are just kids! So if you can pledge any amount for these kids, specifically Mya to have a special wish come true, great! If you want to pledge a set amount per mile, awesome, and if you can’t donate at all, I understand, and thanks for reading my page.
On September 12th 2013, ten-month-old Myalee went into her first surgery to remove a protruding lump on the left side of her neck that turned out to be a malignant tumor. She began her first of four rounds of four different types of chemo in November 2013. All in all, she had a total of seven surgeries. Myalee greets each day with a big smile, she is a happy, loving, imaginative, spunky and bossy little girl.
Will you support my efforts and help me grant Mya’s Big Wish?
