WALTER ANDERSON, TEAM MARYN
On August 3rd to the 4th, I will attempt to run one mile every hour for 24 hours straight in the Anytime Fitness 24 in 24.
My Why
They say that magic happens when you step outside your comfort zone. I was originally asked to help Michael Whiting out during his run. But, the need seems to be bigger. A fellow participent became injured and I was asked to fill in. There are many unknowns. I've never done an event like this before. I am not entirely familar with the format. But, because it's for the kids, I will step up and out so that they can have a magical weekend. So, heres to a weekend of magic.
Maryn’s Story
Maryn was born in March of 2013, looking surprisingly healthy for having been diagnosed in utero with rare congenital heart defects (Truncus Arteriosus, a VSD & an ASD). In the beginning of August 2013, Maryn was evaluated for a heart transplant, although it was determined she was not a candidate due to her 22q11.2 Deletion Syndrome and her over 40 blood transfusions. On her 6-month birthday, her amazing medical team was able to successfully replace both valves and Maryn came home for the first time 218 days after she was born. Maryn is now 6 years old, she has overcome many obstacles and is currently thriving! She enjoys swimming, music, dancing, soccer, her iPad and most of all her brother.
