Team Mary Ann
Once again this year, we're walking to support the incredible Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi in honor of our wonderful wife and mother, Mary Ann Bearman, who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 6. We've seen the way she must deal with this horrible disease on a daily basis -- and the way she has maintained her joy through all of it! That's why we're walking on Sunday, October 7th in support of the work of the Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi! DFM is Mississippi's leading nonprofit health organization working to end this scourge and its terrible consequences, as well as working every day to improve the lives of every person and every family touched by Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes. This includes programs like "We Care 2" (helping newly diagnosed kids), "Camp Kandu" (a weekend camp for kids and their parents to provide education and networking on diabetes), "It's Not a Sweet Subject" (training for Mississippi schools), "Helping Hands" (providing free emergency assistance with diabetes-related medications and supplies to those in need), and "Empowerment for Everyone" (a partnership with church ministries to provide screenings, supplies and education). Every dollar we raise will stay right here in Mississippi, where the rates of diabetes are soaring. Won't you please help us in honoring Mary Ann and supporting this great organization?
