This August 3rd-4th I will be attempting to run one mile every hour for 24 consecutive hours in the Anytime Fitness 24 in 24 Challenge. This will be my second year running. I could use your support to help me reach my goal and to cheer me on!
"My Why" last year was a little orange haired, freckle-faced, Nerf gun shootin', wild little man who is fighting Heart Disease. That boy is my son, Carter! Who, in 5 days, will be leaving on the trip of a lifetime to various parks in Florida thanks to all of you 24in24 runners, Team Carter, Greater Strides and last but certainly not least.................. A Special Wish!!!
This year, "My Why" is sweet, little Makailey. She is a spunky little beauty and has come so far from the first day I visited her and her Mom in the hospital. Children affected by Heart Disease don't always look sick... they don't always act sick... they walk through life with their heads held high having been victorious over several open heart surgeries, heart catherizations, echocardiograms, countless blood draws and appointments and many very scary moments. They are fierce princesses and brave warriors who each own a small piece of my heart. These kiddos are heroes, they are my heroes!
"My Why" is to see Carter's face when we get to LEGOLAND this upcoming Monday, to see Malia's face on various Magic Kingdom rides, and to see other warriors such as Dairian, Charlotte and Makailey one day get their "Big Wish"!!!
Makailey was diagnosed with a Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) named Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) at 20 weeks gestation. She has had three open heart surgeries since she was born on January 19, 2015. She faces each day with a smile and keeps pushing forward. She is a super hero!
Will you support my efforts and help me grant Makailey’s Big Wish?
