Luke loves garbage trucks, mascots and his pets... He’s becoming quite an avid sports fan and can tell you the name and city of every professional team in the NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB. He is very sweet, incredibly smart and has an amazing memory.
School is a struggle for him everyday... The public school system isnt designed for kids like him.. The bell is too loud, the halls are too crowded, the fluorescent lights hurt his eyes, other kids think he’s strange and its complete chaos when filtered thru the spectrum of Autism.
The school he had been going to since kindergarten discontinued their Autism program so he had to start a new school this year and change is very difficult for him. It has been a big adjustment and we are still working hard to find the right support system to help him be successful. Most days I drop him off at school and want to cry, I wish I could make life easier for him and it breaks my heart that I can’t.
This “Team Day” is his 3rd favorite day of the year after Christmas and his birthday of course... He gets to be part of something big, with people who support him and at a place where he fits in! We have been very blessed to have so many people join us in this journey and he loves seeing everyone who comes to share this day with him. I hope that you’ll support Team Luke, if not in person then at least in spirit!
