Lucy came to Suncoast Animal League from Pasco County Animal Services in August after being found in a ditch, barely alive, literally skin and bones. She was severely emaciated, covered in wounds, almost 40 lbs underweight and barely able to stand. After a visit to the vet it was determined that Lucy was also heartworm positive. Although the situation appeared dire, Lucy's spirit showed through right from the start. She proved she was a fighter and after just a few weeks gained over 40 lbs. She was recently spayed and has begun the difficult process of ridding her body of the heartworms. Her severe shoulder wound has all but healed, her fur has grown back, she has a spring in her step and has begun to reclaim her life as a loyal and loving companion.
Although she still a long road ahead before she is completely healed, she is proving she is worthy of her namesake. As her legions of fans will certainly attest, "Everyone Loves Lucy!"
Please help make Lucy's recovery complete by crowning her "Queen of Dogtoberfest!".
