This August 3rd-4th I will be attempting to run one mile every hour for 24 consecutive hours in the Anytime Fitness 24 in 24 Challenge.
Why? How about why not? I’ve run this event the past 2 years and have always thought it was for an amazing cause. I signed up for year 3 without any hesitation. Then, our lives changed, and my niece now has a battle of her own. If she can fight through everything she has to go through, along with all of these kids who have faced their battles, then I can definitely run 24 miles for them. We have the easy part, a couple miles in some crazy costumes, a couple miles in the overnight hours, a couple of miles with some cute kids, 24 miles with 200 others who have hearts as big as mine.
Logan is a happy and rambunctious two and half year old with a smile that never ends! Last summer, after several weeks of fevers and hip pain, he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. As a family, our world was shaken to the very core, but for Logan, his smile never faltered. He had his first surgery and chemotherapy treatment in July 2018, on his second birthday. On February 14, 2019, after six months of treatment, Logan was officially labeled “in remission.”
Will you support my efforts and help me grant Logan’s Big Wish?
