I have been volunteering weekly with The First Tee's Washington D.C. chapter since I started work in Northern Virginia last summer, and I have really enjoyed getting to know and work with the kids at my location over the past several months. For those unfamiliar with The First Tee's work, it is a non-profit committed to providing kids who otherwise may not have a chance to play golf an opportunity to learn to play the game, as well as teaching life skills and core values that will help them succeed in all facets of life on and off the course.
We have our big annual fundraising event coming up, The First Tee Scholarship Scramble on Saturday June 29th at 12pm. It is an 18-hole golf outing at Laurel Hill Golf Club in Lorton, VA with a concert after the round. I encourage those of you in Northern Virginia who golf to consider signing up to play in the event at this link ( https://tftdc.bluegolf.com/bluegolf/tftdc19/event/tftdc192/index.htm ) but we are also looking for individual donations and sponsorships for the event. Proceeds from entry fees and donations will go directly toward college scholarship funds for The First Tee participants. Any amount would help! Feel free to reach out to me personally if you have any questions about The First Tee, where your money is going, or the event itself.
