I have always had a special love for mission work. For one, growing up in a home where it was a big part of our lives, there is no way I cannot have it engrained in me. Secondly, I was born and raised for ~a quarter of my life in a third world country where you get to experience poverty at its finest. I am no stranger to seeing the suffering of those in need.
When you put two of my biggest passions together: Mission work + running, I find this to be my version of "have my cake and eat it too".
I have been challenged and encouraged to run 2 full marathons and 15 half marathons so far, but have always been asked why I didn't start by running the one marathon that runs through the city I've lived in for the past 19 years. Well, being no stranger to my own land, this was my chance to do so, while making a difference.
On March 8, 2020 I am running the LA Marathon and fundraising for the “Keep a child alive” charity, a nonprofit organization that provides healthcare, housing, and other support services to HIV/AIDS-affected communities in Africa and India. Please help me make a difference. Any donation amount will mean the world to those in need. I will be posting reminders often. THANK YOU friends and family in advance for contributing to change our world, one effort at a time.
