Ellie and Jack would like to ask for your donation in support of the National Foundation for Cancer Research, as they run the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C. in October 2019.
They chose the NFCR as their sponsor, as both of their lives have been indelibly touched and shaped by cancer: Ellie's studly dad John specialized in and contributed invaluable research for oncology at USC Norris Cancer Center before he passed away in 2008, and Jack's studly mom Betsy passed away from breast cancer in 2006.
Even more importantly, both were avid runners! And, as mentioned, studs! As a practicing surgeon, John would run 6 miles every day, rain or shine. For her part, Betsy could often be found with a stroller in each hand as she ran with her children in tow. And among other events, just ~7 months after giving birth to Tess, Betsy ran the Big Sur Marathon in 1991 (a race that Jack ran in 2018 and Ellie ran in 2019).
You see, it's only fitting that Ellie and Jack run this race together, in honor of their parents, bringing cancer research and cancer survivors closer together mile by mile. Any and all support is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
