My name is Alyssa Basten and I am so excited to be running the 2020 Bank of America Chicago Marathon with team Imerman Angels! This will be my second marathon and the first I am running for a charity.
I have been a serious runner since 2012. I caught the running bug while completing my undergraduate degree in English Literature at Lake Forest college. Since then, I have participated in numerous races at the 5k, 10k, 15k, half marathon, and full marathon distances.
I completed my first full marathon in Grand Rapids, Michigan with my best friend, Emily Kaht, back in 2015. Even with months of training, the race was still extremely challenging, both mentally and physically. Without Emily by my side, I don't know if I would have had the strength to finish. That is why I believe so strongly in the Imerman Angels' mission and in the power personal connections can have on our ability to perservere in difficult situations.
Please donate, share my page, and help me raise $1,250 for this wonderful organization, because no one should have to face cancer alone.
Why Imerman Angels?
