Friends and family,
I am elated to share that I’ve been selected as one of the 2020 Boston Marathon runners for the MGH Institute of Health Professions!
For someone like me who grew up outside of Boston and then lived along the route in college, Marathon Monday is the best day of the year! There is something special about an entire city coming together to cheer on runners as they race toward the finish line on Boylston Street. It’s a day about goals, determination, and community. Charity runners, in particular, have always inspired me because of their commitment to making their 26.2 miles have a lasting impact.
Raising funds to support student scholarships the MGH Institute of Health Professions is the impact I hope to make. The MGH Institute (www.mghihp.edu) is an innovative, interprofessional graduate school that prepares skilled health care practitioners in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Genetic Counseling, and Physician Assistant Studies.
I was fortunate enough to benefit from a scholarship during my time as a PhD student at the MGH Institute of Health Professions, and now, as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy, recognize the financial burden that our students take on as they pursue their goal of becoming a highly skilled health professional. Our students at the MGH Institute of Health Professions are the future leaders of healthcare. They will be caring for patients at esteemed facilities in Boston like Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, as well as settings across the country and world. Our students will shape the healthcare environment of tomorrow.
I ask you to donate not only to help support me in my personal goal of 26.2 miles but more importantly to help raise scholarship funds to support our talented students achieve their goals and fulfil their passion!
Thank you for your generosity!
I’d love to have you join me for a training run and hope to see you along the route on April 20, 2020!
