When asked who I would walk for, it was tough to think of one person in my life with a mental illness. The truth is, too many people that I know suffer from some form of mental illness, whether it be Depression, Body Dysmorphia, Social Anxiety, or Alzheimer’s. So instead of walking for one person, I’ve made the decision to walk for everyone. I’m walking for Depression. I’m walking for Body Dysmorphia. I’m walking for those of us who struggle just to make it through an hour without breaking down, let alone a day. I’m walking for those of us who know what it’s like to fight with ourselves to put two feet on the ground each morning. I’m walking for you. You deserve the recognition and you deserve the support, because you are fighting one of the hardest battles that often goes unnoticed.
That’s why on April 7th, you’ll see my team and I rooting for you. Whoever you may be, you matter. Your feelings are valid, and you should never be ashamed of who you are, flaws and all, and I am so grateful that you’re here. You are not alone.
