We hope you’re all doing well and staying safe during this time of sheltering. As many of you know, our church along with others, hosts an annual Good Friday Walk, which raises money for Habitat for Humanity. This year’s walk was cancelled for obvious reasons, but in lieu of the event, May is being designated as a time for people to walk separately, together, for Springtime walks.
As you may also know, I have been spearheading the Habitat for Humanity Fundraiser, the Good Friday Habitat Walk for several years , loving it for the valuable cause it contributes to and appreciating the personal connections and conversations it fosters. However, since I have been involved at this level, I have not been able to walk myself as I had done in years past.
We have set as a goal 13.1 miles to make this a Half Marathon Walk. We would love your support in our effort to raise money for an incredible cause working to serve a critical need: housing insecurity. Habitat for Humanity provides housing for families while providing communities and individuals the opportunity to invest in the process through local builds, and donations of goods and services. We're all more aware of the incredible needs of the housing insecure right now, and appreciate Habitat for Humanity for its decades long commitment to this critical problem. It gives these worthy families a hand up, not a hand out.
Alternatively, checks can be made out to Habitat for Humanity and sent to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland, 659 Warren Avenue, Portland, ME 04103. Thanks in advance for your consideration and enjoy the weekend!
