Nimsy (8), is from a rural region of Nicaragua. When she was just two months old, doctors informed mom the best option for her short left leg would be to amputate it. Unable to bear seeing her daughter go through this, Elizabeth’s mom chose to wait. Years later, this family discovered that Nimsy’s leg could be lengthened to the same length as her right leg. Nimsy will be in St. Louis for about six months undergoing this orthopedic treatment.
