SAM SHINER'S DONATION PAGE
As my birthday approaches, I will once again be diving into the icy waters of Lake Michigan this Sunday, March 3rd! This has become an important annual tradition for my friends and I that does a lot of good for Special Olympians and has unknown health consequences to us.
This year is the first year where I'm actually worried about the elements, with the high on Sunday being called for 16 degrees. For our costumes, we are planning to all dress up like Mike Ditka and clench our chests as we collapse in unison into the frozen Lake Michigan waters. In an ironic twist, I'm thinking one of us will fall victim to the ice and actually get outlived by Da Coach himself.
Despite my annual complaints and general lack of inherited toughness from the Shiner lineage, I will once again get through the event and have a great time doing it. It's become one of my favorite days of the year, and I'm so proud to have a family and friends that support me every first Sunday in March!
