We are fundraising for Go Red for Women Columbus this Heart Month so that we can continue to work within our local community to:
1. Ensure all women are aware of the number one threat to their lives: heart disease
2. Close gender gaps in research and STEM
3. Address inequities in quality and access of care
4. Help women take charge of their health.
Why We Go Red:
+ Data shows that younger generations of women (Gen Z and Millennials) are less likely to be aware of their greatest health threat, including knowing the warning signs of heart attacks and strokes.
+ Cardiovascular disease kills more women annually than all types of cancers COMBINED
+ Only 3 out of 100 female bachelor’s degree students continue to work in STEM fields after graduating.
+ Currently women occupy 47% of all US jobs but only 24% of jobs in STEM related fields.
+ Very few women are working in the field of cardiology; only 16% of women are cardiologists.
