CHRIS WHITAKER, TEAM CHARLOTTE
This August 3rd-4th I will be attempting to run one mile every hour for 24 consecutive hours in the Anytime Fitness 24 in 24 Challenge.
I've worked in Pediatrics for over seven years in my life. The worst feeling is looking in the eyes of those parents whose little ones have serious complications. That feeling as a parent who would do anything to help, save, protect or understand their child's wellbeing runs throughout a hospital. I run for those kids, those parents who can take a deep breath and understand it will all be okay. Charlotte is a local munchkin that needs a solid foundation to grow and heal. My hope is that you can support me as I run for her. As parents, grandparents, love ones and friends we all have that heartbeat for those who need us the most, those sometimes are the ones with the littlest but strongest heartbeats.
Charlotte was born on August 13, 2013. Charlotte received her first echocardiogram, electrocardiogram and other testing when she was just three days old. She was in heart failure and had been born with Congenital Endocardial Cushion Defects. She underwent her first open heart surgery at 21 months old. She still has mitral valve regurgitation and stenosis which will eventually require more surgeries. She has also been diagnosed with Apraxia, Hypotonia, and most recently was diagnosed as having a genetic duplication on her 7th chromosome. Charlotte has experienced so much in her almost 6 years of life and remains an upbeat, caring, determined person.
Will you support my efforts and help me grant Charlotte’s Big Wish?
