2019 marks the 17th World Suicide Prevention Day. On this day all around the world, people will be walking, marching or running for World Suicide Prevention Day. The theme again this year is “Working Together to Prevent Suicide”.
In Japan, more than 20,000 people die by suicide a year – this is around 54 people a day, and increasingly these are young people.
On Sunday September 8th, people young & old and from all walks of life, will be challenging themselves to climb Tokyo's iconic Tower! The aim of the event, to raise awareness about mental health in Japan and to raise funds for TELL, one of Japan's only mental health services for the ex-pat community.
The British School in Tokyo proudly supports TELL and various BST Teams including The Primary Leadership Team, The Secondary Leadership Team and the PE Department will be challenging any other BST teams, international schools and all-comers to best their funds raised and their time to the top!
The money raised will be used to extend TELL's crisis chat service which serves users primarily aged 13-30 years, many of whom expressed this as their only means of support.
