I've supported SOUL since Donald developed the idea way back when we were AU students. Since then, I've seen him tend to this seed and grow his organization to make a larger impact on youth every single year.
It's truly amazing how far we've come--but what's even more remarkable is how much farther we will go together.
Are you ready to support low-income youth become the leaders of tomorrow?
SOUL's approach to youth development integrates academic, athletic, character, and professional development opportunities. Its goals are to enhance student-athletes’ academic performance, athletic ability, critical thinking skills, while promoting self-efficacy. SOUL facilitates its objectives through six enrichment programs that engage youth and young adults between ages 10 to 21.
SOUL was established in June 2013. The organization started as a summer initiative with six youth residing in DC’s Clay Terrace public housing community in DC's Ward 7. Since then, SOUL has grown to support hundreds of young men and women in three cities: Baltimore, MD, San Francisco, CA, and Washington, DC.
“SOUL helped us stay on track in school. We visit colleges, go to workshops, and meet mentors. Before SOUL I didn’t have a mentor!”
- Tamara Tinker
