I'm proud to be supporting Team Brookline for the 2020 Boston Marathon. We are a group of 33 runners who are taking on the Boston Marathon to help support the Brookline Library Foundation. Funds raised by Boston Marathon runners have supported innovative library programs, books, materials, museum passes, and new technology, as well as capital projects to modernize Brookline’s libraries.
We value what the library system offers all residents, regardless of age, background, or means. Even today, in the age of Amazon and the Internet, libraries provide a world of explanation to so many including me and my family. I remember being inspired by my local library when, as an 8-year-old I took out its one millionth book.
I see my seven-year-old daughter walking through the Coolidge Corner branch with the same sense of wonder. Brookline libraries offer not only books and media, but also programing such as US Citizenship test preparation classes, Girls who Code, English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, storytime for children, and after school programs.
Please help me support one of Brookline’s great institutions by donating to my run. Dollars raised go directly to the library system to ensure that those who want to learn, those who need support, and those who wish to have access to resources have it when they need it.
