Team Brookline sent me an email this summer inviting me to apply to run the Boston Marathon while fundraising for our community. I had just turned 50, was looking for a new challenge in my life and have always welcomed opportunities to give back to my community! My only reservation was that I had not run AT ALL in my adult life. So I did what anyone with a dilemma does these days and took to Social Media to ask my friends and family if they thought I could do it? HA! And to my amazement, I received a RESOUNDING yes and unbelievable support!
I am married to an intellect, who has his nose buried in a book, magazine, medical journal or a laptop at all times (usually a few at the same time!) My little guy, also an avid reader, is reading, journaling or leafing through the NY times when he's not playing soccer or squash. Me - I love my suspense novels, food, travel and fashion magazines and, most recently, autobiographies about ultra marathoners. As a family we obtain most of our reading material at our local Brookline libraries. So raising funds for Brookline Library Foundation (BLF) is definitely very personal and special for me.
Call it crazy, call it my mid-life crisis, call it an opportunity to show my son that anything is possible... I have commited to running the 2020 Boston Marathon with Team Brookline for the Brookline Library Foundation!
My ask of you - my family, friends and supporters is to click the link and DONATE - and help me reach my fundraising goal.
Thank you in advance and I promise to document and share this journey. I hope you will be at the finish line on April 20, 2020!
