I'm so excited to be participating in BvB Dallas this year for the first time ever!
BvB Dallas is a young-professional organization that hosts a powder-puff football game for a day of fun, fellowship, philantrophy and enjoyment as a way of raising money for Alzheimer's research and awareness. Founded by sisters whose father was afflicted by Alzheimer's, BvB is a personal way for young professionals across the country to raise awareness, funds and support to TACKLE ALZHEIMER'S FOREVER.
Thanks to many generous donations, I reached my initial fundraising goal of $1,300 but I'm not stopping there! Let's see how much money I can raise by August 10th!
Please join me in the fight to finding a cure for Alzheimer's Disease by raising awareness so we can hopefully put an end to this horrible disease. Here's a look at all the places in the DFW area that will benefit from the money raised!
UNT Health Science Center:
The UNT Health Science Center in Fort Worth is a second year BVB beneficiary. Our funds will support research investigating hyperbaric oxygen therapy as a potential treatment for Alzheimer’s disease. This research study will examine the hypothesis that hyperbaric oxygen therapy reverses brain deficits associated with Alzheimer’s disease by reducing neuroinflammation, boosting antioxidant defenses, and improving synaptic health.
Center for BrainHealth:
BvB will be providing funding for The Center for BrainHealth’s Discovery Group, a strength-based program aiming to optimize the abilities of individuals with early stage Alzheimer’s disease. BvB’s contribution will also support additional programming that the Center for BrainHealth offers: targeted education for caregivers, community workshops, and professional seminars that are delivered throughout the community for a broader impact.
BvB will continue our partnership with UT Southwestern, funding the Clinical Neuropsychology Alzheimer’s Fellowship, an intensive two-year program which provides an opportunity to rapidly develop expertise in the differential diagnosis and treatment of dementia. We are also supporting a groundbreaking new research study to diagnose and treat Alzheimer’s disease by using focused ultrasound. This study could potentially be used to deliver therapeutic agents directly to the brain by temporarily opening the blood-brain barrier.
The Senior Source:
Since 1961, the mission of The Senior Source has been to enhance the overall quality of life and empower all older adults to thrive. The Senior source provides critically needed resource materials to a caregivers, one-on-one care and companionship, as well as, guardianship case managers to ensure the quality of life of a vulnerable, incapacitated senior with dementia who has no one else in their life to protect them.
Thanks for joining me in my fight against Alzheimer's disease! #TACKLEALZ
