I have decided to make a difference this summer and I feel the personal and deep connection to do this by committing to tackle Alzheimer’s disease.
You may or may not know the impact Alzheimer's disease has had on my family: My Great Grandpa William Presson (we called him Grandpa Press) passed away from the disease when I was 9. Years later, my Great Uncle Russell started to show signs of what we knew as Dementia and was later diagnosed and passed away in January of this year. The final straw, and most recent and most painful for me was when my dad’s dad, Grandpa Bob, lost the battle to Alzheimer’s this April, 3 years after the diagnosis date. I have had enough.
I have recently discovered an organization called BvB Dallas. This is a young professionals organization dedicated to raising money and awareness for Alzheimer's disease. Each year, the organization hosts several fundraising events including happy hours, pool parties, charity dinners, a benefit concert and a powder-puff football game at the Cotton Bowl. We also put together several volunteer events where we get to spend time in care facilities with Alzheimer's patients. Founded in 2008 by a group of motivated women, BvB Dallas is a way to honor and remember loved ones who suffered or are suffering from Alzheimer's and related diseases. BvB Dallas has experienced a blitz of success by raising over $4.2+ million dollars and recruiting over 1,000 volunteers in eleven years.
2019 marks the 12th anniversary of BvB Dallas and we have a HUGE goal- Raise $650,000 by August 10th!
So I need your help to hit my personal goal of $3,000!
You can make your donation by clicking the green "Donate" button above and/or I can let you know of any other volunteer efforts or ways that you can help and support us. The beneficiaries of our cause are doing phenomenal research and huge steps towards curing Alzheimer's, as well as taking care of patients and the families who are dealing with this life-altering disease while we search for the cure. BvB Dallas is quickly becoming a passion of mine so please see the link below to get more information.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and intention-I am so SO grateful for your support for this cause that is near and dear to me.
