I've signed up to join a team of colleagues to run the Marine Corps 10k on Sun Oct 27 and as part of this commitment we're spreading the word and asking support for Building Bridges Across the River. BBAR is an organization very close to heart of the William C Smith Company - where I've spent much of my adult life and working career. BBAR is the backbone of THEARC (Town Hall Education Arts Recreation Campus) in ward 8 that brings together a wide array of partners that provide health, education, recreation and social services to residents of southeast Washington, DC. They have even expanded in to farming and building an incredible park on a bridge over the Anacostia! Yes literally building bridges between communities! Its hard to describe all of the work they do and benefit they provide but here is a very brief clip - https://youtu.be/vRfS8Btp0sI
Personally, i've been working my way back into shape after having some new parts inserted into my foot after an accident last year. So after just over a year of building up from a walk around the dining table, to the block, to some more challenging hikes I'm excited to get out and run! And to do so with this group in support of BBAR is some great additional motivation. I'd greatly appreciate your support of BBAR if you're able.
(No Federal or Marine Corps endorsement of sponsor is implied)
More About Building Bridges Across the River:
BBAR improves the quality of life for children and adults who reside east of the Anacostia River by providing leadership, management and financial oversight of the Town Hall Education Arts Recreation Campus (THEARC), 11th Street Bridge Park, BBAR Farms, THEARC Theater and Skyland Workforce Center.
