September 2015. My friend Simone invited me to BBAR's gala held on THEARC's 16 1/2 acres campus. October 12th, I started volunteering in their Development department. April 2016 I became BBAR's (Independent Contractor) part-time Development Associate. I knew instantly that BBAR was perfect as one of the Marine Corps Marathon Events Charity Partners. It took three attempts to get accepted and it was totally worth the wait! I am excited and proud to be the Coordinator & Coach for Team BBAR. On Sunday, October 27th, 17 charity runners will run the MCM10k - 6.2 miles! It's the same day as the Marathon which adds to the excitement. The charity runners have worked hard training and fundraisng. We are so close to making our $10,000 team goal. Please help us reach it!
Thank you for your support!

About Building Bridges Across the River:
BBAR improves the quality of life for children and adults who reside east of the Anacostia River by providing leadership, management and financial oversight of the Town Hall Education Arts Recreation Campus (THEARC), 11th Street Bridge Park, BBAR Farms, THEARC Theater and Skyland Workforce Center. Through these projects, BBAR uses a multi-sector approach to address significant social, health, environmental & economic disparities that exist in DC.
As THEARC’s managing partner, BBAR is the engine behind all of the facility’s services and programs. The organization oversees and maintains the campus grounds, and fosters collaboration between THEARC’s resident partners.
Today, BBAR is expanding its footprint, leading programming and partnerships at THEARC, THEARC Theater, BBAR Farms, Skyland Workforce Center and the 11th Street Bridge Park. Through these collaborations, BBAR provides access to high quality educational, health, cultural, recreation, and social service programs which contribute to the revitalization of the community in southeast Washington.
