Established in 1887, the Boston Athletic Association’s (B.A.A.) mission is to promote a healthy lifestyle through sports, especially running. The B.A.A. is committed to furthering its mission by investing in the communities where we live and work.
This year the B.A.A. is excited to launch a team of fundraising athletes who will run on behalf of the B.A.A.’s community engagement efforts at the 123rd Boston Marathon on April 15, 2019.
Funds raised by this team will help expand the B.A.A.’s youth and community programming, while also providing additional opportunities for enhancement and the potential introduction of new events. The B.A.A. has long been a leader in community engagement initiatives in the Greater Boston community. Current programming includes:
* Boston Marathon Youth Jamboree
* Boston Middle School Cross Country Championship
* Road to Wellness 5K in Roxbury
* Mayor’s Cup Cross Country Youth Races
* The Pursuit Program
* B.A.A. Relay Challenge
The goal of the inaugural charity team is to raise over $150,000 to support these critical initiatives.
