This year, I will be joining our Team AMP to run the LA Half Marathon Charity Run on March 24th. I am doing this in memory of my mother, who just passed away last year in November. In her honor, I will be walking/running 13.1 miles, with my AADAP family, and raise up to $2,500 for a good cause.
AADAP has been my second home and family outside of my personal life, and together with the loss and passing of my mother in November, we also closed down and lost a program that was close and dear to my heart - the Olympia Academy for Youth - a residential treatment facility for adolescents who were battling addiction. The program had to close its doors after serving youth and families in the course of over 15 years due to the changes brought on by shift to Drug Medi-Cal, as the payer of source for alcohol and drug treatment.
It was one of the toughest times to have gone through such losses at the same time, and my training and experience to move forward in 2019, will give me a fresh start personally and professionally.
I hope that you can support me in this journey by contributing to this cause.
Anything and everything will be appreciated.
