The Falmouth Road Race has been an important part of Live4Evan's fundraising for the past several years. However, in 2020, the prestigious Road Race takes on even greater significance for Live4Evan due to the current global circumstances.
Live4Evan continues to provide three patient-family apartments for families traveling to Boston for cardiac care at Children's Hospital. The cardiac surgeries and procedures that these children receive are life-saving and cannot be delayed, despite the limitations that the COVID-19 pandemic has created. Without a place to stay, these families would otherwise not be able to travel to Boston for the world-class treatment their children need.
The pandemic has had a significant impact on Live4Evan's typical fundraising efforts. With two events postponed and the status of the Boston Marathon uncertain, Live4Evan views the virtual Falmouth Road Race as a terrific opportunity to raise the vital funds needed to continue to provide housing for the families of cardiac patients in Boston. The critical care for these children cannot be cancelled or postponed. We urge you to help however you can to ensure that their families have a place to stay while receiving life-saving medical treatment.
What Live4Evan has meant to Addy's Family:
“Live4Evan apartments provide the invaluable opportunity for heart families to have consistency, normalcy, comfort, family time, and maybe even some relaxation during extremely trying times.
The inconsistency in housing, sometimes uncomfortable quarters, figuring out where to do laundry and how to make meals, and cost added so much extra stress while Addy was hospitalized. Before we found Live4Evan, in 4 months, we spent over $20,000 on housing, while also paying the mortgage for our house back in NY.
There is something so comforting and special about being able to unpack bags and live a “normal” life when your child is undergoing scary and intense medical treatments. When Addy was discharged from BCH, COVID-19 concerns were becoming increasingly serious. When I reached out to extend our stay due to concerns about family at home possibly being exposed, it was no problem. The hospitality was top notch.”
