Want to join me in making a difference?
Teacher to teacher.... I’m raising money to benefit Tip of Texas Family Outreach Inc (TOTFO) and I need your help. I am tagging 3 teachers who I know have big hearts and care enough to help make a difference in our community. If we can each donate $20 or whatever amount we can give, we can help a child in need.
There's a child not too far from me who is desperately missing their classroom and the safe space it provided. I am sure you've had a similar child in your class. As teachers, we used to keep an eye out and give these children an extra smile or word of encouragement. But now, we have to find other ways to help.
This pandemic has affected everyone in more ways than one. Families facing unemployment and financial hardships, lack of food resources, fear of infection, and being holed up can take a toll on anyone. Some parents are not capable of managing these stressors and that can trigger unhealthy behaviors and not a very safe home environment for children.
During the last 3 months, incidents of child abuse have increased tremendously! The Tip of Texas Family Outreach's primary purpose is to ensure that children are raised in safe, healthy and nurturing home environments and that families demonstrating risky behaviors receive the supportive services they need in order to make better life decisions for themselves and their children. This is one of my favorite organizations as it not only provides parents with education, guidance, and support, but it also helps with an emergency food pantry, clothes, and school supplies to the families receiving program services. This, of course, is contingent upon availability of funds.
As we continue to live in these unprecedented times during COVID-19 and must maintain social distancing to avoid the continuous spread of the virus, we may not be physically present to give our students a much needed hug or word of encouragement, but, as teachers, we can continue to make a difference in their lives.
Please help me tag 3 more teachers that will undoubtedly support this non-profit during these difficult times.
Money raised will help avoid interruption of services as the organization has had to cancel in- person fundraisers for the year. To learn more about TOTFO, please visit www.totfo.org
