Hi friends and family! I am excited to be running the Twin Cities 10-miler for Reach Out and Read, a non-profit organization that promotes early childhood literacy during well-child checks. I've been inspired through my brother's tireless advocacy for this organization whose effectiveness has been recognized by the American Academy of Pediatrics. Recently, I have seen the importance and benefits that early childhood literacy can have firsthand, in the smile my nephew Nchare has every time we read a new book together : )
Reach Out and Read provides books to children at well-child visits from infancy until they start school. More importantly, they encourage families to read aloud and engage with their infants, toddlers and preschoolers every day.
All of the money I raise will go directly to Reach Out and Read Minnesota.
This helps to:
● Place books in the hands of low-income and minority children at an early age.
● Prepare children for success in school and in life.
● Strengthen families and communities through supporting literacy and parent/child bonding.
Any amount helps - even just $10 would provide books for 4 children. Thanks for considering supporting this great cause!
