Triton Central Elementary School has a 3rd grade STEM RESEARCH team that has been competing this year at VEX IQ robotics events. So far, our team has won two competition events and came in second for a third event. The team has rooted their research in the field of prosthetics. The team identified an ethical issue in the construction of prosthetic limbs pertaining to prosthetics for swimming. The team identified that many prosthetics are not water proof or easily adaptable to swim. They constructed an idea and fabricated a flipper attachment so that people may still walk while wearing the swim flipper.
After meeting and interviewing amputee victims, the team wanted to further their research and outreach efforts. Therefore, Triton Central Elementary School is creating a fundraising campaign to help make prosthetics more accessible. Our STEM RESEARCH team would greatly appreciate any donation you would be willing to make to this effort.
